Achieving goals

Strive Journal

Strive Journal is a platform which main purpose is to increases the chance of you achieving your goals. It all starts with the question; what do you really want to do in life?

The concept of Strive Journal is based on information from books like;

To save you the time of reading all the books, these are the main concepts:

  • Write your Goal down – Writing your goal down creates a feeling of commitment.
  • Visualize the end result – Be reminded regularly of what you are working on and why you are doing it.
  • Focus – Keep your focus on maximum 2 large goals and 2 small goals. Doing too many different things at the same time is a guarantee for failure.
  • Make a Plan – By creating milestones you can cut the large goal down in smaller steps which makes it easier to stay motivated on your goal and eventually achieve it.
  • Invite Friends, Family and Coaches – Sometimes they want to join you in your journey, or they are able to advice you because they’ve already done it, or they are just willing to support you in anyway. Who doesn’t like helping someone?

An explanation of how you apply each principle can be read in the blog ‘How To Create a Plan to Achieve your Goal‘.

There are events all around the world who teach you more about those concepts. I recommend you to attend one if you can. They can be expensive but are easily worth the investment.

Mind Exercises

It’s not easy to find out what you really want to achieve in life and to stick to it. There are several exercises you can do in order to make this clear for yourself. The upside from doing this digitally is that Strive Journal can remind you to rethink some of the things once in a while.

Affirmations

Affirmations help you restructure your believe system. “I am energized and ready to slay the day!” is an example of an affirmation. Eventually you will start believing you are energized and feel it too. In the Affirmations exercise on Strive Journal you can enter your affirmations and you will receive a daily notification to be reminded of them. By repeating them out loud you affirm with them more than just reading.

Assess Life

This exercise feels heavy (at least for me) but is very useful if you take your time. With this exercise you receive a certain question every once in a while. This way you’ll be guided to life the life you want.

Once a year you’ll be asked to reassess your personal values and rules to life by. These values and rules change throughout your life and all choices you make daily should be based on your personal values and rules. Be conscious about them.

Once a month you reassess the month. Have you done what you wanted to do? And what are you going to do next month? Reassess the roadmap of your goals if necessary.

Once a week you rethink what you’ve spent your time on. Which of these things do you want to spent less time on, and where do you want to spent more time on the upcoming week? It’s not needed to write this down – only thinking about it is enough.

Optional daily: Which three things are you going to finish today?
Optional daily: Gratitude. What are you thankful for today?

Dear Future Self

Where do you see yourself standing in the future? What does your life look like then? Write it down now and be reminded of it when a certain time period has passed

It’s fun to read it back later in life and to see what you’ve actually achieved within that time. You’ll be amazed!
